The Renaissance was a great period of rebirth in the history of the world. It was a great re-awakening era that swept across the world beginning with Europe. History has it that the movement began in Italy in the late 14th century as the medieval era gave way. It continued through the 15th and 16th centuries as it permeates Germany, France and other major countries of Europe. It was a great period of rebirth even in the area of Fashion.

Fashion merchandising which has been an idea in the minds of many during the previous eras became a reality. This is because of the great awakening in renaissance era that saw the establishment of fashion companies all over the place. Great inventors and designers emerged from their cocoons with their products. The idea of buying and selling took a new turn as governmental sector become independent of the church.

Fashion merchandising therefore began to become very real as fashion designers of all kinds began to invent and produce all manner of fashion products. The idea of buying and selling was still at its initial stage. Fashion products gradually began to come out in their various kinds. The shoes, watches and clothing material of all kinds started making their debut in the world.

However, one thing to bear in mid is that, the renaissance period is actually the era where fashion merchandising began to take shape. It was still as the infant stage then. This is because most fashion products were still developing then. There is no way fashion merchandising would thrive without the fashion products.

In all, the renaissance period gave impetus to the idea of fashion merchandising which eventually swung into full force in the modern era that followed immediately.
