Every phenomenon on earth has an origin. Man itself has a profound origin and so is every other creation in the world. There is always a starting point in every endeavor in life. The same applies to fashion Merchandising.

Fashion merchandising is as old as man. The ancient period played a very prominent role in the development of fashion merchandize. In the ancient Greek era, history has it that men and women of that era were so much preoccupied with the thought about the origin of the world. In the ancient Greek for instance, the men in particular preoccupied themselves with the act  of thinking.

They tried to discover the stuff that underlies the reality of the universe. They wondered about the stuff from which world was made. These people also had need to wear clothing materials and other necessary fashion accessories of the time. However, they made animal skins and other weaved products for their clothing. The idea of marketing the fashion product was not there as there are no quality fashion product yet available.

In the medieval era, the story was the same. Fashion merchandising was still born during the era. This is because; the medieval era was a dark period in the history of mankind. It was a period where all powers belonged to the church. Men and women were restricted to engage in some dealings. The act of buying and selling as that time was mainly minimal. Hence, fashion merchandising remained an idea.

However, one thing to take note of is that, the idea of fashion merchandizing was born as that time in the minds of great designers most of whom were still kids in the era. They held their dreams until the medieval era ended.
